The 2016 AIFF Youth Cup was the first edition of the AIFF Youth Cup, organised by the All India Football Federation (AIFF) as a preparatory tournament for the India under-17 team for the 2016 AFC U-16 Championship and the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup. The tournament was held from 15 May to 25 May 2016 at the Tilak Maidan Stadium in Vasco, Goa.[1] A total of five teams participated in the tournament after being invited by the All India Football Federation.
Format[edit | edit source]
The AIFF announced that the tournament would be divided into two stages: Group stage and play-off stage. The group stage saw each team facing all others once. The top four teams of the group qualified for the play-off stage. The top two teams faced off in the final to determine the champions, while the 3rd and 4th-ranked teams faced off in the third-place play-off.

The Tilak Maidan Stadium in Goa was announced as the venue for the tournament.[2]
